Steven Muñoz

Steven Muñoz was born in the city of Cali in 1991. At the age of 10, for family reasons he moved to the city of Amsterdam, Holland, where he began his first steps in music. A decade later and after having participated in conservatories and musical programs in that country such as the “Junior Jazz College” and the ROC Amsterdam, he was awarded titles such as Music performer (2011). In 2012, Muñoz returned to Colombia where he rediscovered and became interested in the country’s folklore, a reason that led him to move to Bogotá to study formally and graduate as a Master of Music with an emphasis on Jazz drums and popular music from the Pontifical University. Javeriana, period in which he was also the winner of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation scholarship (2015). After crossing the country, he discovers the folklore of the Caribbean coast and its musical richness as one of the most representative expressions of Colombia and its cultural memory.

Steven Muñoz is currently a professional drummer, percussionist and producer, with the ability to adapt to various musical genres. Among other participations at national and international level, has collaborated with musicians such as: Miguel Osorio 2010-2012, drums (Colombia-Netherlands), Junior Jazz Ensamble, drums 2010 (Netherlands), Tito Carrillo Quintet 2015 , drums (USA), Guillermo Klein y Marcelo Gutfraind 2015,drums (Argentina), La Pópula 2016 drums and percussion (COL), Diana Burco drums and percussion 2016 (COL), Arevalo 2016 drums (USA), Javeriana Jazz Latino Ensamble drums and compositions 2018(Mexico), Malagana drums and production 2018 (COL), Payambó Tamborero Euro Tour (2019), drums, percussion and production,with an educational feature of Colombian Afro-Caribbean music for the French and German population, giving workshops on Colombian culture and folklore to kids and adults.
